Cotag Wanderer Control System   [Back]

Cotag's aim with their 940 wrist tag is to help eliminate the problem of wanderer control in health care for the elderly. Solutions tried in the past all had serious ethical and financial implications for the health-care providers who tried them. Physically restraining or sedating a patient is clearly little more than a band-aid solution that has the potential to anger regulators, patients and their families. Further, it's dangerous in an emergency situation. Increased staff supervision is more acceptable to most, but comes at a heavy premium in human resources. The Cotag wrist tag is simply the most effective and acceptable way to control wanderers.

The 940 wrist tag contains a radio-frequency code that can be detected by door mounted controllers. Individuals without wrist tags can pass through the doors at any time, but an individual wearing the 940 will set off an alarm system when they attempt to exit. That means that other patients, visitors and staff can all pass through a controlled door while the wandering patient remains under electronic supervision. Comfortable, reliable, and unobtrusive, the 940 is the high-tech solution for wanderer control.

Cotag's system is also expandable to include conventional access control systems for your medical facility's parking lots, pharmacies, or other restricted areas. It's an all-in one solution for medical access-control problems.
